The Honor 8X camera bundles several great features, including Huawei's popular Night Mode and a dual-lens system, seen in the company's flagship, the Huawei P20 Pro. More importantly, it also bundles Huawei's AI camera algorithms to help you shoot intelligently. In short, the Honor 8X has a lot to offer for the price.

The AI mode of Honor phones is able to recognize up to nearly 500 different scenes. It certainly makes for impactful shots with high levels of contrast and saturation.
All you have to do is press the AI button on top. However, don't get too carried away with this mode. AI mode can sometimes make a photo look unnatural.
For more natural looking photos with balanced color reproduction, it's best to click images in the default photo mode and edit them later using Snapseed or VSCO.
Did you know that you can switch between normal mode and AI mode in the gallery? Just tap the AI button in the upper right corner to see the effects. Unfortunately, there is no built-in method to save the captured photo in normal mode. Fortunately, there is a nifty workaround.
Open the photo in Gallery and turn off AI mode. Now share the photo via email. You can save the image to your phone gallery later.
Pro Tip :Always click Portrait mode images against a colorful and vivid background. This makes the image stand out sharply and gives it a better composition. The Honor 8X also comes with a handy Night mode for capturing low-light photos. Pro mode allows you to familiarize yourself with several settings such as exposure, focus and white balance. However, the only thing you need to worry about in Night mode is shutter speed, and the rest is taken care of automatically.
Also, you have to hold the phone really still because the camera can take up to 7 seconds to take a picture. Tap the S icon in the lower left corner and drag the slider to adjust the speed. When done, press the shutter button and wait.
Do you see the little circular icon at the top? Yes, the one with the dotted border? This icon opens the door to more vivid photos. Instead of creating still images, the camera of your Honor 8X captures a few moments before you click on the image. This results in a moving image and at the same time the still image is saved in the phone gallery.
Photos taken in Motion Picture mode are marked with the same circular icon on the gallery. All you have to do is tap the icon to activate it. Incredible, right?
Unlike most phones, you'll need to enable HDR mode manually. Although the phone allows automatic HDR in AI mode, unfortunately it does not do the same in photo mode by default, which is a bit strange.
Just tap More> HDR and click elsewhere. I really wish Honor had a nifty option to allow the user to choose which modes they want to have on the camera interface, which most Samsung phones have.
Did you know :You can change the focus on portraits after taking them. The Face Unlock function is triggered at the slightest movement, it is sometimes difficult to actually launch the camera application. And that can be quite disappointing when you need to capture footage instantly. Ultra Snapshot mode solves this problem by letting you click images with a single click.
All you have to do is press the volume down button twice and the photo will be captured instantly. This mode can be activated through the Settings mode. You can also change the settings to launch the camera instead.
Just make sure to keep your hands as steady as possible. Also, if you have a heavy phone case with bulky buttons, this mode can be a bit difficult to use.
Apart from the five modes, the Honor 8X also comes with a few additional styles. One of the most notable is the Light Painting mode. If you love experimenting with various looks and photo effects, you'll love Light Painting.
Light Painting lets you click long exposure shots with various effects like traffic trails and star trails. The best part about these features is that you don't have to worry about exposure or white balance. Simply hold the phone steady or attach it to a tripod to get the most out of this mode.
Everyone loves a simple way to take photos. It's something as simple as smiling or pressing the volume button. To add to the above, the Honor 8X also supports an additional feature that allows you to take photos just by touching the viewfinder.
To enable this option, go to Settings (gear icon) and toggle the switch to Touch to capture.
The tips mentioned above will certainly help you get the most out of your Honor 8X. Also, don’t forget to polish your shots. While you can own the world with a phone camera these days, a little post-processing never hurts.
