Delete ThreadKeep Your Close Friends CloserInstagram's Threads app is a messaging app for your close friends. But unlike regular chat apps, here you can choose which people from Instagram should appear in the app. These people should be added to the list of close friends on Instagram. The idea of the application is to speed up conversations with your best friends.
Everything related to a conversation is available right in this app. You don't have to juggle multiple taps to start a conversation. We have already explained in detail how to use the application. In this article, we'll help you speed up your conversations with these tips and tricks for the Threads by Instagram app.
Note: Tips work on both Android and iOS versions of the Threads app.The Threads app has two important screens:the camera and the home screen. To switch between them, Instagram has provided dedicated buttons. But when you're on one of these screens, you can quickly switch to the other by simply swiping down. The gesture is similar to the one you use to reload in Chrome or Snapchat, i.e., scroll up and down.
The shortcuts available next to the capture button on the camera screen aren't just for decoration. Tap it to capture a photo and send it directly to that person. Hold the person's profile picture to start shooting a video.
If you don't like the captured photo or video, swipe down to delete the captured media. You will see the delete icon when you scroll down the screen. Release the screen to throw it.
After capturing a photo or video, swipe the captured file up to send it to the other person. You can also use the send button.
Once you have made the required changes to your photo or video, you can save it to your device before sending it to the other person. To do this, tap the Download icon on the send screen.
To record video, you need to hold down the camera button. To flip the camera during recording, you must use both hands. You can continue recording video with one hand and use the other to flip the camera by double-tapping the screen.
Instead of opening the app settings or the Instagram app to remove people from your close friends list, you can do it directly from the home screen of this app. To do this, swipe right on the chat thread of the person you want to remove. A pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm. Tap Delete.
If you're on the app's home screen, swipe left on the person's chat thread to open the camera directly for them. You don't need to open the camera screen first and then tap the shortcut. This further reduces the time it takes to send something to your close friends.
Similar to Instagram Direct, you can also change the post display time in this app. You can choose between Show once, Replay and Keep in chat. Select the option after capturing the photo.
It's no surprise that you can rearrange your friends' shortcuts on the camera screen. But did you know that you can also change the position of the capture button or the camera icon?
To do this, follow these steps:
Step 1: On the Threads app home screen, tap the three-bar icon and select Customize Camera.
Step 2: Similar to other shortcuts, hold and drag the default camera to the position where you want to keep it.
As you can see in the following screenshot, the capture button is now available in another location.
Apart from adding individual contacts as shortcuts, you can even add Instagram group chats having your close friends as one of the shortcuts. To do this, first create a group with them. Next, navigate to Customize Camera from settings. Here, tap the plus button next to the group.
Generally, the state functionality introduced in the Threads app can be changed from the app settings. But you can also do it from the home screen of the application. Just tap your profile picture in the top middle and select your status. You can also enable the auto status feature.
In case you haven't noticed, you can also video chat with your close friends using this app. To do this, open the person's chat thread from the app's home screen. Then tap the video call icon at the top.
Everyone keeps asking for dark mode. Instagram has provided it in this app along with other themes from the first version itself. You can choose between 5 themes in this application. Interestingly, when you change the theme on iPhone, it also changes the app icon.
To change the app theme, go to app settings and tap Themes. Then select your preferred theme.
Note: You can enable dark mode on Instagram if your device is running Android 10 or iOS 13.You cannot directly delete a thread from the Threads app. You can remove the person from your close friends list to hide their chat in the Threads app. Alternatively, you can delete the feed on the main Instagram app. This will also remove it from the Threads app.
