YouTube Music Mixtape is one of my favorite features of YouTube Music. You get an endless supply of your favorite songs, and the app's AI makes sure the songs are tuned to your liking (much like Awesome Mix Vol 1) by Peter Quill.

In this article, we have compiled the best tips and tricks for YouTube Music Mixtape, to help you get the most out of this music streaming app.
Let's have a look.
The Custom Mixtape, the one in the upper left corner of your homepage, contains songs that you listen to frequently or sound like them. But in the end, it's not a foolproof method and in some cases adds songs you might not like.
If you come across such songs, hit the dislike button. Liking and disliking the music tracks will allow the player to create the mixtape according to your taste. And the more likes and dislikes you have, the more personalized your mixtape will be.
However, note that YouTube Music has a limit of 5,000 to create a playlist of songs you like. So if you reach this limit, it will prevent the algorithm from considering your choices. Luckily, there is a way to edit liked songs.
To do this, open the Library tab and tap on Liked Songs. Here, you'll see all the songs you've liked in the past, including music videos you've already liked through the YouTube app. Now tap the three-dot button next to the song you want to remove from the list and select Remove.
Besides mixtapes, you can download full playlists or individual songs. For playlists, tap the little download icon under the name. For individual songs, tap on the three-dot menu and tap on the Download option.
Cool tip: You can update your music recommendation via Settings> Recommendation notifications.Offline Mixtape aka Smart Downloads is perhaps the second best feature after YouTube Music Mixtape. This downloads a list of songs that you listen to frequently. The more new songs you listen to, the more diverse its content will be.
When you're connected to a Wi-Fi network, the app refreshes the soundtracks daily. Yes, no manual intervention required.
However, smart downloads are not enabled by default on YouTube Music. To activate it, go to Library> Downloads and press the Activate button.
The mixtape will be downloaded automatically based on your music taste and listening history. You can find it in Library> Downloads.
Pro tip: You can start playing the mix offline instantly by long-pressing the YouTube Music icon on your home screen on Android.By default, the YouTube Music mixtape downloads 250 songs, which is about 1.8 GB. Fortunately, there is a good way to increase this number.
To do this, tap the Settings icon and you'll see a slider under Smart Downloads. All you have to do is move the slider to the right. You will see how much space the offline mix will take up.
Currently, YouTube Music allows you to upload up to 500 songs. Just be sure to connect to Wi-Fi if you have a capped data plan and sufficient battery on your device.
The offline mixtape is a charm, yes. But more often than not, it adds songs that you might not like. This is especially true if you listen to the same songs over and over again, without doing anything (reading, liking or disliking).
To remove songs from the offline mixtape, open it via Downloads and locate the song. Now swipe left and tap Delete. Easy.
Note that if you listen to the song again in the future, there is a good chance that the algorithm will add it to the mixtape again.
Adding songs to YouTube Music offline mixtape is not as easy as the above steps. The streaming service does not have a mechanism that allows you to add songs as you wish, at least for now.
Normally, if you vote for a song or listen to it frequently, there's a good chance it'll end up in the mixtape, all thanks to the app's machine language-based algorithm.
At the same time, note that the randomization algorithm works full throttle if you keep listening to the same old songs over and over. This way you don't discover any songs and it ultimately reflects on your offline mix.
Once in a while, find a new album and listen to it. Since YouTube is a melting pot for artists new and old, this shouldn't be a big deal.
At the same time, note that the song recommendation does not change overnight.
The Shuffle button is right there on the playlist next to the Play button. But where is the Repeat button? I bet you had this question. But let me assure you it's there, even if it's a little hidden.
Once you've opened your offline mix, select a song you want to play. Now pull up the little information card at the bottom displaying the next song and tap the Repeat icon. Ta-da!
Speaking of rehearsals, Riders of the Mist by Joi Barua has been on my bucket list since morning. And you?
Before YouTube Music, YouTube was my primary app for streaming music. The only issue was that I had to keep my phone unlocked. Also, I had to listen to the annoying commercials. Thankfully, with YouTube Music, that hurdle has been removed. I love that I make the most of YouTube Music Mixtape to let it curate local artist covers or even movie soundtracks.
