If you've been playing Super Mario Run for a while, you've probably already figured out this secret:it's not hard at all to get through the tour and defeat Bowser. I completed the tour in about an hour from start to finish. At first I thought, I paid ten dollars for this? Yet, after exploring and playing more, I realized that the tour was only a small part of what Super Mario Run had to offer.
Most of my gameplay these days comes from the other three major components of Super Mario Run:Rally, Kingdom, and Special Rooms. These three elements are necessary to completely "beat" Super Mario Run, that is, to reach the highest level possible and develop your kingdom to its maximum capacity. Here's how.
The key to leveling up fast in Super Mario Run is in rally mode, not tour mode. Rally mode allows you to take on the ghost of other players in specific worlds. Each World Selection in Rally Mode comes with its own set of Toads:either all red, red and blue, red and purple, red and green, red and yellow, red, green and blue, or all five colors. Having a good amount of each color will become important later, so try to go through all the worlds.
You level up in Super Mario Run by increasing the number of toads you have in your kingdom. The more cool stunts you perform in a rally, the more toads will come to cheer you on. You can get up to around 60 per game. Try to do lots of floating jumps (tap in the air from another jump), jump on enemies, and frequently grab enough coins to go into star mode for lots of toads to steer you.
It's also important to collect coins in general, because if you lose to your opponent in this regard, you lose toads of your kingdom.
Of course, you need rally tickets to participate in the rally. The easiest ways to earn them is to collect all pink, purple and black coins in tower mode levels, place ? blocks in your kingdom and tap them daily, place specialized gambling houses in your kingdom and play them daily. You get two tickets to collect the coins in visit mode and up to 50 tickets just by pressing a ? block for a random reward. Gambling houses can also get you a few a day.
Level 20 is apparently when Nintendo decided "Yeah, that's probably pretty high." » You reach level 20 when your kingdom has 4,000 toads. You can grow your kingdom well beyond this amount - up to 9,999 - but you stay at level 20 for the rest. When you reach level 20, your castle expands to its largest size and the build mode will unlock gifts for your kingdom.
Super Mario Run levels up for every 200 new Toads you bring. The castle physically expands every five levels, or a thousand toads. The only exception to this is the final transition from level 19 to level 20 – it takes 1,000 new toads to finally reach the final level of the game. Prepare, prepare and gather all night to take the big leap .
Although technically reaching level 20 means you've completed everything Nintendo wants you to, you can still progress a lot more from here.
The last task on the list is to unlock all available items in build mode. The most important are the five Rainbow Bridges which physically expand the size of your kingdom by placing bridges to new areas. These new areas have more room for buildings, specialty buildings, and decorations.
Pretty much everything in build mode is eventually available to you once you have enough toads and coins. This is why playing rally mode and bringing toads to your kingdom is so crucial. Higher amounts allow you to unlock all characters, all expensive statues, and all Rainbow Bridges. You can place bigger and better houses for your toads, great monuments and more.
The only exceptions are specialized buildings. For example, the pink, purple, and black pipes are only available after collecting all of those respective coins in tour mode.
The game continues as long as you want. I'm still not at 9,999 toads and haven't collected all the specialty coins, so I still have a lot to do after level 20. The value of your 10 bucks spent on Super Mario Run is superb, so pass in rally mode and keep growing your kingdom. Good luck.
