After seven years of development, Albert Marin and his small team have completed their comprehensive overhaul of Resident Evil 4 PC graphics. Compared to other projects where developers improve or modernize visuals for a new generation or hardware platform, this team has looked into every frame, using funds donated by fans of the project to improve the port. Capcom's gaming PC.
In some cases where old textures just didn't look so good at higher resolution, the team redid many of them from scratch using photos or of AI, while striving to stay true to the aesthetics of the original game. When I interviewed Albert Marin in early 2021, the team had amassed over 4,500 Photoshop files and put in over 9,000 hours of work on the project.
Personally, I'm surprised (but glad) that the team hasn't received a cease-and-desist order from Capcom - especially as we approach the release of the build VR on the Quest 2. As a show of good faith, the company even pinned a forum post about the fan-made patch to Resident Evil 4 The Steam talk page on Steam. You like to see it.

This HD project, which can be installed as a patch for Resident Evil 4 on Steam, makes no gameplay adjustments. Instead, every stone, ammo box, doorknob - even the cutscene visuals - have been lovingly updated by the team. For people who may have recently played Resident Evil 4 RV game for Quest 2, this could be a fun way to experience the most polished take on the original third-person game.
