On a recent road trip with the OnePlus 3 (which has an amazing camera), I missed the Samsung Galaxy S7 I had a few months ago. The only reason behind this was the video collage mode which was part of the Samsung camera. While photo collages are quite common these days, the Samsung camera actually allowed you to save a video collage and then play it all at once after stitching it together. I don't know if you've seen any of these on Instagram, but they look absolutely amazing.
However, it was a built-in feature of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and when I got home (with the OnePlus 3) it was time to find an app for it. Now, the thing is, there are quite a few apps that claim to do the task, but only a few were able to accomplish what I was looking for. So let's take a look at them. If you prefer video to reading the article to see the apps in action, we've created one for you.
The first app you can try is PicPlayPost. The app is free to download, however, the first time you launch the app, it will give you an in-app purchase option to remove ads and watermark from processed videos. Although there is plenty of time for this, now is the time to see how the app works. The first thing you will be asked to do is to select the frame style and there are plenty of options to choose from including the ratio of the videos. From what it looks like, you can stitch up to 6 videos together to make a collage.
With that done, the next thing you will need to do is import videos from the gallery. You can also add background music and photo along with the video and it will also work. If things don't fit, drag the video inside the frame and zoom in or out. You can also tilt them if you wish.
Finally, when everything is set, you can preview the creation and if you like what you see, just hit the share button to share it on Facebook, Instagram or any other social media platform. Tap the gallery option to save it to the device's internal storage.
If you have any problems while importing a video, you can open the settings and select the option Change video codec . Here you can import sample video from your camera and then wait for the app to import codecs to use in the future. Right here you can also buy the full version of the app and get an ad-free interface without watermarked videos.
The second app you should try is Video Collage and the biggest advantage you get with this is that you don't get any watermark on the processed video even in the free version. There are ads, but nothing you can't live with to support the developers. The only thing missing here is that you don't have the option to trim and edit the video and they will be imported as is. So you'll either have to live with the stock footage or use an external editor to cut it.
In the app, you can add photos and background music, but besides that, text and stickers are also supported to make the video more cool. It is very easy to work with these additional elements and place them on the videos.
Another thing missing from the previous app is the ability to select a different aspect ratio image. You only get square frames but they have nice patterns. Rendering also takes longer but not significantly.
This is how you can create video collages on your Android and make your regular videos awesome for your social network. One thing I would like to remind you before concluding is that if you have videos on cloud storage like Google Photos, please save them to the phone's internal storage before importing them to these apps or you may encounter issues. forced closure. Other than that, if you have any doubts, feel free to ask in the comment section.
