While Microsoft has held plenty of game showcases in 2021, Sony has been relatively silent on what's coming to the PS5 in 2022. Well, Sony is going to break its relative silence with a 40 event minutes which will offer “a glimpse into the future of PS5. The PlayStation Blog says to expect updates from its various PlayStation studios (the number of which seem to be growing every month) on games kicking off this holiday and others coming out in 2022.
Horizon:West prohibited may get some airtime, as this is a PlayStation-exclusive title that will launch in the next few months. Of course, there's more enthusiasm for games we know less about. We have yet to see a trailer for the upcoming God of War title, so maybe it will make its gameplay debut. There are a host of other possibilities, such as information about Gran Turismo 7 or news about the next-gen version of GTA V .
Maybe Sony is ready to widely roll out the new PS5 firmware that will enable the M.2 SSD slot in all consoles. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing new DLCs for exclusives released in 2021, like Return and Ratchet and Clank:Rift Apart .
As for what we won't see, Sony says new PSVR hardware made for PS5 won't be in the stream.
The broadcast will begin at 4 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. BST on Thursday, September 9. As mentioned before, this will last 40 minutes.
This event will be streamed on YouTube (embedded above) and Tic. Sometimes the Twitch stream can be a few seconds ahead, so keep that in mind.
