Your phone is probably one of the dirtiest devices you have in your home. Research shows that we clean practically everything, from toilets to doorknobs, but that we often forget our phone. While that is precisely the device that you always have with you. You may even have a handy SIM-only subscription, so you can use your phone at an extra cheap price. Time for a thorough cleaning before you continue calling and using the internet!
1. Remove your phone from the cover, cover or case
You may think it's enough to quickly wipe your phone with a cloth. But a lot of dirt actually accumulates in edges. That is why it is good to first (carefully) remove the phone from the cover, cover or case. You will find that a surprising amount of dirt got into the phone protector. You can remove a cover from the phone, but of course you leave a screen protector in place.
2. Remove coarse dirt carefully!
Did you know that one grain of sand can already give a huge scratch on your screen? This happens the moment you rub the grain with a cloth over the screen. So you shouldn't do that! Always start cleaning your phone with a dry cloth or wipe. Gently wipe the coarse dirt from the phone without rubbing.
3. Polish with a soft damp cloth
Choose a soft cloth. You should preferably go for a microfibre cloth or a nanofibre cloth. Do not use 'stiff' fabrics, such as cotton. These can cause scratches. Dampen your cloth and wipe the phone with it. Start with the screen and brush all around until your phone looks like new again.
4. Use a special cleaner
It makes no sense to use hand soap or disinfectant on your phone. This will leave a greasy film on your phone, making it dirty again even faster. There are special cleaning agents for smartphones and tablets. These work much better and make your phone really clean again. Make sure you also clean the edges well. A special cleaner kills bacteria and viruses and continues to do so for a while after cleaning.
5. Wash your cover or cover
Do you have your phone in a soft cover or in a fabric case? Then wash it in the washing machine at a slightly higher temperature. This way you know for sure that it is fresh again and will last a while longer. You can polish a hard cover. Do you have a leather case or cover? Then you first clean it thoroughly and then treat it with some oil or shoe polish to make it beautiful again.
6. Prevention is better than cure
A phone often goes everywhere with you. So it is good to be aware of this. Many Dutch people are concerned about the health of food and how clean the toilet is. The Dutch are especially concerned on holiday. But did you know that your phone is probably a lot dirtier than the toilet you use? Wash your hands well before using the phone, especially after going to the toilet. Clean your phone at least twice a month and brush it regularly. This prevents you from transferring germs to others via your phone or infecting yourself with something.
Cleaning and keeping your phone clean is important. Do you want to compare your sim only at Simyo to be able to use your phone even cheaper and longer? Clean it up nicely first. It is a lot healthier if you pay attention to the hygiene of your phone. It is therefore always wise to give your phone a thorough cleaning.
