The box in which the Ewin Calling series was packed is large and heavy. I was surprised to find the package on my doorstep, as I had assumed something that big would have kept the FedEx truck idling for a while. Despite the size, I had no problem moving the box around my office. Depending on the layout of your home, you may want to ask someone for help.
Ewin has its own style, so you'll notice a consistent look across its various series of gaming chairs. If you're actively put off by the look of a chair, you might not like the other models either. Even so, many gaming chairs have a similar look, so if this isn't for you, you might not be a fan of gaming chairs in general.
Fortunately, the Ewin Calling Series doesn't sacrifice convenience for flash. We'll look at this in more depth later in this article.
The chair I used before was a very popular model from a well-known brand. This chair did its job well, but when it comes to build quality, the Ewin Calling series is much better. This is both in terms of the overall construction and in the apparent quality of the materials used.
Other chairs I've used have squeaky parts and weak sections out of the box. The Ewin Calling Series gaming chair is nothing like it. I've often had to tighten up other chairs a day or two after they've been assembled, but I haven't had to do that yet with this chair.
This is starting to affect overall comfort, which we'll get to next, but this chair is very adjustable. You can adjust the overall inclination of the backrest, as well as the total height, the inclination of the seat and the height of the armrests. None of these adjustable sections feel weak or look like something you don't want to stress too much about.
The Ewin Calling Series gaming chair is quite adjustable, and because of that, it takes some getting used to. You may find that what you initially think is a comfortable position doesn't stay that way. It's not the chair's fault – instead, you just need to take some time to figure out what works for you.
At first, I sat quite straight, like I do in other chairs. It was quite comfortable, but after a while I found a more reclined position to be much more comfortable. This held true even for working at my desk, which I had initially thought wouldn't work.
This chair also includes two pillows:a lumbar support and a neck pillow. You might be tempted to take them off at first, but I found they made the gaming chair much more comfortable. The lumbar pillow is essential, and although the cervical pillow may seem superfluous if you sit up straight, it is very practical if you recline.
I was lucky enough to receive the chair before a weekend, so I set it up on Saturday morning and spent quite a bit of time playing and watching videos. The chair not only kept me comfortable, but the more I used it, the less I wanted to go anywhere else.
To work, I alternate between standing and sitting. The Ewin Calling Series gaming chair challenged my willpower when it came time to get up. Depending on who you are, this might not be a good thing, but I consider it a positive.
Compared to the chairs you'll find at your local office supply store, the Ewin Calling Series Gaming Chair doesn't come cheap. That said, after only a few days of testing, I was pretty sure it was worth the list price. A day or two later, I was sure.
The Ewin Calling Series gaming chair lists for less than $400, but it's frequently on sale, so you might not even have to pay that price. Check the website for current pricing, but regardless of the sale price, it's great value.
Prior to this review, I was skeptical of gaming chairs. I had tried other cheaper models and didn't see the point. After trying the Ewin Calling series, I can't imagine spending a day at work or a weekend gaming marathon in anything else.
