If you've ever wondered what you would look like if you were a work of art, now you can find out thanks to Google 'Art Selfie'. In the US you could already make your own #artselfie with the Google Arts &Culture app, but as of yesterday that function is available worldwide – also in the Netherlands.
To make the greatest works of art in history accessible to everyone, Google introduced the Google Arts &Culture platform. Anyone who uses the app to take a selfie is immediately linked to his or her image in one of the tens of thousands of works of art that Google makes digitally available together with more than 650 partners from the art world. This way you will find out whether you are a part of the 'Mona Lisa', whether you share your traits with the 'Girl with a Pearl Earring', or maybe you witnessed 'The Creation of Adam'?
Art Selfie works through technology based on visual machine learning. When you take a selfie, it is compared to faces in works of art provided by partner museums. After the analysis, you will see in percentage how much the comparison holds for each outcome. In this way, your selfie becomes a gateway to a work of art or artist that you may not have known. Moreover, you immediately learn everything about the work in which you play the leading role and you can share the result via social channels!
You can take your Art Selfie from within the Google Arts &Culture app, which is available for both Android and iOS.
